Bathroom Design & Remodeling
So; it’s now time to remodel your bath and you want to proceed with the best bathroom design you can envision…. What do you do and where do you start?
You start with the “Space”… Everything you are going to do to your existing bathroom will depend upon the space available changes you may be planning to the existing walls or ceiling are taken into consideration.
After the finished space has been determined you can start the layout of bathroom designs for filling in the empty space with whatever pleases you. There are magazines and internet sources to provide you with various designs. You can also go to stores which have complete mockups of bathrooms available in their showrooms. This will give you great ideas for your new bathroom and you can start gathering prices which will help you prepare your budget.
Now, comes your first of many major decisions.
Now is the time you want to get serious about this project. Gather up all of your prices for the work that will be done, then set a final budget. Add a 30% contingency for changes that may be needed, as the work progresses, but do not tell anyone who is working for you about this contingency. It has been my experience that your bathroom remodel should cost about 10% of the value of the house. In other words, a house worth about $150,000.00 means that you will probably spend about $15,000.00 to upgrade your bathroom. That would be with middle of the road fixtures and small structural adjustments to the space.
Good luck and enjoy your new Bathroom
